Most of the people who join as associates do so via the IAM's "Skill for Life" package, which costs £139. For full details, click on The IAM link on the left.

You can also opt to pay the £139 in two stages: £75 on enrolment and £69 when you apply for test. (Yes, that comes to £144 - you save a fiver by paying it all up front.)

Click the link on the left for details of Observed Runs.

Not quite sure about committing that amount of money?
You can have a FREE assessment drive with one of our Observers who will give you a summary of the areas in which the standard of your driving can be improved.

You can also join us as a Group Associate for just £25 which will entitle you to a number of observed runs with our Observers and your own copies of How to be a Better Driver and The Highway Code.

2009 IAM Group Achievement Award
Our Group was recently presented with the Group Achievement Award (Runner-Up) at the IAM National Car Conference. Andrew Bent accepted it on behalf of the Group from Mr John Cushion & Mrs Dianne Cushion from Saffron Insurance, sponsor of the awards. The Group was nominated by our Regional Coordinator along with about a dozen other Groups throughout the whole of the UK (where there are well over 200 IAM Groups in total). All those nominated Groups were then analysed and scored against all sorts of criteria as to how they operate and match up to what the IAM considers as "best practice" for the Groups.

John Norsworthy
1926 - 2011

John We are sad to report the death after a short illness of John Norsworthy on Thursday 10 March 2011.

John was a long-standing and well-respected member of Warrington Advanced Motorists, joining us as an associate in 1990 and was one of our first observers to participate in the IAM's Qualified Observer scheme, achieving the position of Senior Observer. He recently requalified as a Senior Observer with an IAM Staff Examiner at the age of 84, a quite exceptional achievement.

John was a very active member of the group, serving as Chairman of the Training Committee, Treasurer and then Group Chairman.

He was a popular observer, turning up on a Sunday morning whatever the weather and could always be trusted to improve and enhance the driving skills of an Associate. He was awarded "Observer of the Year" last year.

John led a very active life after his retirement from BNFL, working as a volunteer for the local hospice St Rocco's as well as offering private tuition in maths and physics.

We offer our sincere condolences to Margaret and to their family.
